  "Took a taxi to the trailhead just outside Bomerano. I do believe this is the best way for two main reasons. You walk towards Positano with the breathtaking views of the city and you are doing more descent than ascent and once you get to the 2,000 steps in Nocelle you be very happy to be going down...". You do not need a guide. Our travel agent tried to con us into a guide for about $500USD and we opted out. The trail is very well marked and there are people on it, not crowds, but people if you get lost. Plus, there are emergency numbers posted along the trail which coordinate to specific locations. The views are breathtaking, the trail is not difficult and should take less than 3 hours even with a stop in Nocelle. We stopped at Santa Croce to check it out and then came back for lunch by taxi.
