"This tour is a must in Rothenburg. The tour leader does an excellent job in his roll playing as he takes you on a Night Watchman's tour to keep the town secure and free of fires. His showmanship which I thought would be cheesy, was a fun tour well worth the time. I highly recommend the tour, this..." 60 year old enjoyed it and all the kids on the tour got into the tour wholeheartedly.

"This was our last stop in Germany as our daughter had read about Rothenburg being a Christmas Village. There is no parking inside the middle section of town. The few vehicles that come through might drop off baggage and then head to your hotel's parking area or return outside the city. We woke ear..."ly to explore the town and not one car in sight. It was like stepping back in time. A very relaxing and beautiful town that happens to be a little busy when the tour buses drop off passengers. Most leave by mid afternoon.
The shops are lovely and offer a variety of goods for you to purchase as souvenirs. By 6:00 most everything was closed except for a few restaurants ( as it is throughout Germany).
Some of the homes were built crooked and have sloping roofs or appear a little swayback. Intriguing and delightful.
We saw two bridal parties having pictures taken in the gardens overlooking the valley.
Pastries were wonderful.

"My daughter and I were in Rothenburg on Mother's Day; our families all left behind in the U.S.A. We got up early before all the tourists so we could tour the beautiful town. When the church bells began tolling we headed in that direction and made it in time for 10:30 Mass. We sat in the back ro..."w so we could observe the traditions and a Mass in German. At the close of Mass some young resident children filed down the center aisle and from the altar sang a beautiful song. They then went to all the exit doors and as we left the church they handed all the ladies a heart that they had cut from red cardboard. it was a very nice gesture and made our Mother's Day. Later we observed the same priest walking down town, enter a shop and hand one of the red hearts to his friend.
The church is lovely; very old and homey. The seats and kneelers well worn. It was nice to feel a part of their culture and traditions.
