A virtual visit to Dr Frankensteins laboratory with Geissler Tubes, Bouquet Tubes, Railway Tubes, Jacob's Ladder, telegraph system, early x-ray tubes and many more crackling spark, electric flame laden demonstrations. Showing the education of the young Victorians, using many of the static accessories and rare artefacts, as used by them. We hope your visit here will prove interesting, stimulating and will give an insight into this largely extinct branch of science.

Visit the house where the James Cook came to serve his seaman's apprenticeship. The handsome 17th century house on the harbour belonged to Cook's master, the Quaker shipowner, John Walker. It was here in the attic that the family lodged thier apprentices when not at sea serving the London coal trade. The Museum's rich collection celebrates Cook's achievements and the work of those who sailed with him - sailors, scientists and artists.See letters in Cook's own hand, original paintings and drawings, ship models and maps, and strange objects from newly discovered lands.Special Exhibition for 2013 - 'Oceans apart! Canoes of the Pacific'Our new exhibition brings together paintings and plans, original artefacts and models showing the variety of canoes and catamarans which astounded Cook and his men with their beauty, speed and manoevrability. They could even outpace larger European ships!

"We have often seen this lovely old ruin perched on the hill and finally decided to visit. First of all you climb up about 199 steps to the top( what guide book says) didn't count! Then you see a lovely old church beautiful we had a wander around the church such character about it and we noticed the ..."old pews how unusual lady at front of church was explaining about them to us pleased at our interest. We then paid to go in to the old abbey wow first a breathtaking view then the ruins it must have been so grand once. Will go back again,
