Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jawsome Sauce6 contributionsThe bluff and cliffs were really cool, the trees were very tall and i found some great rocks on the beach. The ground was pretty flat and not tiring to walk on. I had a very good time.Written 12 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jawsome Sauce6 contributionsWe all went on Sunday because they have live music then and we had pre ordered some food there. I had an apple juice slushy (which i don’t have often) and a burger and it was very good and filling and one of the best burgers i’ve ever had. The music was great, and it was fun seeing the cows as we came in and the old cars. I think its very cool how they turned a farm into a tourist attraction. Me and my family had a great time and i especially liked the music.Written 12 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pennyforNanaimo, Canada117 contributionsTribune Bay Provincial Park is very pretty. Nice beach for swimming and sunning. Some short but pretty trails. Please don’t leave a mess and please don’t come to Hornby without accommodations or camping already reserved. There’s no place to just pullover and camp. That’s not cool. Otherwise, enjoy the beach!Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KarenHornby12Hornby Island, Canada41 contributionsCaptain Pete claims that the distillery produces hangover free spirits. Seemed to be the case, after a lengthy, and tasty, tasting! Loved the fish pond, chickens and whole rural vibe.Written 19 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jenn L73 contributionsThis market has everything from great food to locally made arts and crafts. It is close to the grocery store (Co-Op) on the island so super easy to pop by. It is also close to the main beach. Not that anything on Hornby Island is very far away.Written 11 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Spyhopper12Sooke, Canada258 contributionsStopped at Carbrea although since it has changed ownership, it is now called Lerena. Enjoyed some tasting of all they had to offer and ended up buying 3 to take home. Lady doing the tastings was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great way to spend an afternoon.Written 31 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Colton HComox, Canada1 contributionOver the summer I went to visit the winery and the friendly staff helped me to pick out a bottle of their Black Portamento. There's not enough words to express how good it was! My friends and I tried it straight, then later drizzled on apple pie. In both cases the flavor of the local blackberries was sweet and strong, but not overpowering. We finished the bottle in no time and I can't wait to get more!Written 17 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carlie JVancouver, Canada105 contributionsTasty mead, great service and a beautiful patio with a stunning view. Definitely worth a visit if you are on Hornby. They also have a delicious non alcoholic option in their lavender lemonade.Written 20 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hiredBellyVancouver, Canada34 contributionsSadly, the Cardboard House Bakery has ceased operation, at least for now. There may be occasional special events held in its garden but the bakery, pizzeria and coffee shop are no longer, at least for now.Written 6 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
