I must admit that I have to laugh at all these people complaining about bears - yes there are bears - have you not realized that you are camping in the north??!! We are entering their territory - the park staff ..."patrols but really since we are in the bears home in the wildlife - don't complain!! don't go to this park if you aren't expecting to run into wildlife - maybe you are much better going to the Pinery or something like that where the bears are non existant. The wildlife is great (bears included) - you see alot of deer, chipmunks, etc. and yes there are rattlesnakes there too!! But that is the joy of camping and going to Killbear is to see all these nature things!! I have stayed at Granite saddle which is my favorite - smaller and quiet but you do have to drive to the showers.   "We circumnavigated Lake Superior from Duluth Minnesota to Sault Ste Marie Michigan. There are better views and vista on the section between Duluth and the US/Canadian boarder. The trip around the lake in Canada is expensive -- motel, food, and fuel. It is mainly a well paved 55mph/90kph road with..." wooded areas on both sides. There are some views and vistas. There are some turn offs taking you down to the shore. There are numerous small streams that feed into Lake Superior from upper Canada. In the late spring these small streams turn in raging roaring rapids as the mountain snow melt finds it was down hill. If you are able to come upon these sights you are in for a fantastic experience.
