What travellers are saying
- esf44London, UK132 contributionsVery nice beach, very sandy and clean. During our stay in September the water was quite calm but we did have a couple of days where it was very rough and we could not go in. The whole beach has lifeguards and if the red flag is showing they are very hot on stopping you going in the water.
Beware the fish bite, lol!Written 8 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Agia Marina is typical of coastal resorts on the island, the main hotels, shops, bars and restaurants etc are situated on the coast road, the resort spreads a long way until you reach and merge with the next resort, which is Platinas. This road is very busy with traffic so be very careful, especially with young children. The beach area which overlooks the island, where apparently you can only visit once a year, is very popular and is sardine packed with tourists, sunbeds and parasols.
The hotels off the main road are in the hilly area of the resort, so check the maps for location before you book, otherwise you will have a climb up each time you go back to your hotel, not good if you have any walking difficulties, or are perhaps pushing a buggy or wheelchair.
Access to other places is quite good as there is a fairly regular local bus service running from Chania along the coast.

- Krisztina5 contributionsGood music, comfortable seating and sun beds, very good view, good atmosphere. Serves could have been more attentive. Price a bit elevated. Sushi was excellent but the drinks could have been better. Very strong drinks though.Written 22 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melanie SLincolnshire, UK5 contributionsTowards the end of holiday after lots of walking, beach and swimming I had sore and cracked heels. I asked if I could have a pedicure minus the polish. I think the young lady was called Thalyia but I could have remembered wrong. It is the best pedicure I have ever had. Truly relaxing with a lovely massage and my horrible feet ended up as soft as a baby. I would definitely recommend.🤗Written 24 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Laura S13 contributionsVisited here yesterday and were blown away by the cocktails. We’ve had some decidedly ropey ones whilst here but the guy who owns it has an incredible knowledge and listens to your likes and dislikes and makes recommendations accordingly.Written 3 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Claire8 contributionsWe saw this bar on trip advisor and decided to give it a go.
It’s a very quiet ‘chilled vibes’ kind of bar (think it’s also a hotel above it) just on the main road in Agia Marina (not the liveliest place) seems to be a bar people stop in on route to Platanias.
We ordered a Mai tai and a Strawberry daiquiri and OMG it was like having a cocktail from back home! Amazing ..
I always find when having cocktails abroad that they are quite watery, probably pre made in most places and don’t quite taste the same, not here!!
We have been in Agia Marina now for 8 days and having tried a variety of places and cocktails I can honestly say these are the best by FAR yet!
Service wise, we were greeted by a nice man who was very smiley and attentive bringing us crisp snacks with each cocktail! The cocktails also come with all the nice trimmings, different glasses, flowers, fruit etc!
Defo worth a visit!
