Batoche is a really neat place that I have visited a few times over the years. An area that played a huge role in the 1885 Northwest rebellion holds a great deal of history and is a place all prairie person should visit at least once!

I have been to this national historic site a couple of times and thought it was an excellent way to learn more about the Metis people.

Batoche is the site of the Metis Resistence of 1885. The church and rectory are beautifully preserved. The church has been restored but the rectory still has bullet holes from the battle.
