Victor has spent most of his life here and today you will have the opportunity to learn a little of the rich cultural interaction between his people and their country. We will travel north across the Magela floodplains and past some of the spectacular escarpment outliers to Ubirr, one of Kakadu’s major aboriginal rock art sites. Here Victor will guide you through the natural stone galleries and give you an insight into the culture associated with some of these intriguing works of art. The art here spans a vast period, from ancient times before the sea level rose to its present level right through to interaction between Aboriginal people and early European visitors. You will see paintings of spirit characters and the famous x-ray art depicting the internal structure of some of the animals of this country. « less

We took Victor's trip to Ubirr, East Alligator and South Alligator Rivers, Mamukala Bird Hide and finally Jabiru Township itself. It is a full day and at Ubirr you'll be climbing rocks but the Paintings and views are just extraordinary. Victor can talk to you about Uranium mines, Plants, Animals, Dreamtime and everything in between... My friends were from France,... More

Our experience with Victor was truly wonderful. His knowledge of the region was incredible and made our time in Kakadu one to be remembered. We had a personalized experience versus the big commercial buses. Victor was first class and even came back the next day to return an item we left behind. We highly recommend the tour. Victor Cooper is a well-informed, professional and informative guide. We went on a tour through the Ubirr and Nourlangie Rock art sites in Kakadu National Park and neighbouring Arnhem Land this spring. His tour includes discussions of indigenous art, local history and a fascinating running commentary of the flora and fauna, including bush tucker (edible berries, plants etc). I learned... More
