The village is being reclaimed and retored to allow visitors the chance to see for themselves how hatta residents lived centuries ago. It was clearly a hard life and for many in Hatta life may not seem a lot better today.A mix of renewed buildings and still to be excavated ruins is on view and you walk around the village...

Hatta is a lovely place and has a fair few things to do (briefly), so while we were there, we popped into the "Heritage Village" and what a surreal experience that was!
It's basically a restored traditional village, but restored, sanitised and prettied up to within an inch of it's life... and it was also deserted. The fort was good...

We drove out to Hatta for a day trip from Dubai with our two children (9 and 12). The drive out was great, there are many camels along the drive and the mountains/sand dunes are "desert pretty" and cheap pottery/iranian carpet stands line the roads right by the Omani/UAE border crossings (bring your passports!)
