Considering that, as happened to some tourists encountered traveling, in Uganda or Congo is not obvious to see well the mountain gorillas because sometimes they are distant or they can be in the bush and this doesn' t give much satisfaction to the tourist after to have paid 500 USD (this is the price for person and is valid in... I dragged my feet about paying the fee to see the gorillas, but it was worth every penny! It was an experience I cannot put into words to be up close to such huge, incredible creatures. Know that the hike is strenuous! Wear good shoes and long (light) clothing. No one warned us to bring waterproof material to guard cameras... More

African Pearl Safaris organized a wonderful safari which included gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimp tracking in the Kyambura Gorge and game drives and a boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Everything was very well planned and our driver guide Drake, made sure we saw as much as possible. Drake is very knowledgeable on the animals, birds, culture and history... More

Most people, myself included, visit Bwindi for the guerilla trek. And that's an excellent reason to go. It is a difficult trek, some of the hills are at steep angles. You really can't request a particular level of difficulty as the guerilla family your group is assigned to can keep moving and you have to move with them. I'm 63... More

We loved our trek to see the Gorilla's. It took approximately 1 1/2 hours to find them, which was perfect, and then we had a wonderful hour with them before we walked back. Highly recommended. More

If you like the outdoors, don't mind sweating and getting a bit dirty, and have an interest in seeing one of the most magnificent animals on the planet, read on. Seeing the gorillas in the wild is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I wouldn't mind doing again. On the recommendation of a friend's parents (who at a 60+ years young had... More

We stayed at upscale Mahogany Springs in the town of Buhoma, which was very nice. Then you must pay for entry to the National Park and 2 ranger guides (who are armed). Our local guide was from Nkuringo Walking Safaris (on the web)and he carried a couple of books. We started walking along a forest path and walked for hours,... More

Visiting Bwindi to see the mountain gorillas was the absolute highlight of my trip to Uganda. However, there are a few things I wish had known before I went there. First of all, make sure you are in good shape. I did two treks, the first one was 1.5 hours, the second one was 2.5 hours, both one-way! Plan for... More

I thought we'd see a few gorillas on this trek, but what we ended up with was so much more. We found our gorillas after about a 2 hour trek. Then we sat down to observe them and they ended up observing us. There were about 16 gorillas in our group and they ended up in a big circle around... More
