On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon there is nothing better than to stroll through the heritage site of Saltaire, through the attractive (and recently renovated) Robert's Park and on to the Shipley Glen cable tramway. Established in 1895 the tramway only runs by, virtue of volunteers, on a Sunday. It operates between the top of Robert's Park and Shipley Glen... More

Lovely little tramway which I visited as a child as did my mum and Grandma before me. My boys aged 10, 8 and 3 enjoyed the ride and from the top it is only a short walk up Prod Lane to Shipley Glen itself which is great for kids to scramble about on rocks, find caves and climb trees. Ice... More

As a regular visitor as a child, so am I as a adult, introducing my children and my grand children to Shipley Glen. A really great day out (The tramway only runs on Sunday). After alighting from the tram there are lots of rocks on Baildon Moor for the children to climb if you venture further up the Lane with... More

What an excellent and enjoyable attraction. Everybody here is a volunteer and their enthusiasm and commitment just shows through at every stage. It is a rare and valuable part of our heritage from Victorian times. The fare is very low. Free car parking is close by outside the Grammar school. We had a fascinating time looking at the small museum... More

I used to love going here as a kid, it's a really nice family day out where you can walk on the glen, have a cup of tea or an ice cream. Would recommend it

What a piece of history that should be used to keep it going. At the top of the ride, the old fair ground and tea shops have lomng gone and so what is there to go up the tram ride for? Only to come down might be the answere. Well yes, but what about Shipley Glenn and the moors? What... More

The tram is a whimsical delight - don't miss it if you're in the area and have young children, who will be enchanted, but adults love it too. It's basically a little tram ride up a steep wooded hill, and it takes minutes, but there is nothing else quite like it.
