This was a last minute inclusion on our itinerary and one in glad we made. Was very interesting to hear the heritage and original uses of these herbs and spices. I would recommend paying the extra to do the guided tour.keep an I out in the trees above for the monkeys.

Visiting the spice garden, and taking a cooking class in particular, was a great break from the typical touristy stuff. The tour of the gardens was interesting, but the cooking class was where it took off. You learn a great deal about food, culture, history, etc. Not recommended for children (knives and woks!), but really fun for groups of friends... More

Beautiful gardens set in amongst a natural tropical setting. Lovely place to have a slow wander around, with or without a guide. An absolute must for anybody with an interest in botany. They also run Nyonya cooking classes which is a great way to create and sample some of Malaysia's most delicious cuisines! A visit to these gardens should be... More

I've visited the Tropical Spice Garden while visiting George Town. I had a guided tour and my guide Cindy had many interesting things to tell about the plants and animals living in the garden. Don't forget to have a foot spa in the pond in the back!

My husband and I went to Pearly Kee to learn traditional Nonya cooking. What a treat. We visited the local market and met some wonderful characters; we also learnt a lot about the foods, my husband even treated us to tasting a century old egg, it was surprisingly good. Pearly taught us so much when we started preparing our dishes.... More

The spices here in this Garden are a plenty. We had a guide take us around also. He was well educated and we learnt quite a bit about the various spices that are grown here in the Garden. Its a beautiful place, however our Guide was quite quick to take us around. I think we would have only been around... More

My husband and I just took a cookery class at the spice garden and it was great! You get a tour of the gardens with the best guide Danny who tells you loads about the spices, then we learnt to cook chicken satay and fried noodles with Rohana who was a fantastic teacher! And then you all sit down to.eat.what... More

What a wonderful attraction to visit on a typically steamy Penang afternoon. It's a little piece of paradise where you can walk through tropical plants of the most amazing variety. There's a great little gift shop at the end of the walk.

It was a good place for nature lovers, particularly plants. There was a package of paying for entrance together with a guide, and i did a mistake for not doing that. Having someone to explain on the spices was necessary because the explanation boards were VERY limited. I would say it worth a visit.
