Not just of antique treasures not seen anywhere in the world, but also because there is a now destroyed former palace across the street. Moreover, it is known that the bravery of the defiant museum employees protected many of the antiques when the Taliban, with little tolerance for anything non-Muslim, raged through Kabul.
