The immaculately maintained promenade is a delight to visit in the evening. It also has a 24 hr coffee shop in the middle
Perfect place for a quiet walk. During evenings the road is closed for traffic. The sea breeze and the sound of waves crashing on the rocks provide the perfect setting for a leisurely walk. The hawkers and fortune tellers can upset your mood sometimes.
If somebody asks me, I’ve very little time to spend in Pondicherry –where should I go? The sea shore is rock bedded so not worthy of bath, but an evening stroll will etch a permanent place in your mind. It has a bit to offer for all kind of travellers. The sea breeze and the sound of sea from the rock seat is just too good.

The seas are usually rough, the promenade are good for a stroll, but if the crowd is more, then its difficult as the rocky shoreline is very narrow. It becomes a no car zone in the evening post 6pm. Good ideas to have a few cheap beers on the cafe across the road over looking the sea.
A walk on the seaside Promenade is something without which your Pondicherry trip is incomplete. Cool breeze, a fabulous view of the sea and a host of cafes and other eating joints to try as you walk along. The whole atmosphere has a very French feel with zero hustle bustle and sheer serenity!
