We were just looking for a nice cafe to grab some lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find this free attraction with a cafe on our travels. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here, but it certainly was interesting to walk around the displays... More

This is situated inside the Hermitage Hotel so is very convenient to visit if you are staying there. Check out the movies, its good value to buy a package to see them all. More

The Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine centre has free entry. Sir Ed, along with Tenzing Norgay, was the first to climb Everest. The Centre looks at his life, his training at Mt Cook, his time at Everest and his further expeditions. There is also a history of tourism in Mt Cook. Well worth some time. We didn't watch the movies or... More

It really is done very well and well worth the wander round to learn all about the hotel and Sir Edmund Hillary. The fact it is free is a real plus as everything these days one has to pay! More

We loved the museum and the movie about Sir Edmund Hillary's ascent up Mt. Everest. A great place to go if the weather is bad outside. More

Having travelled down the coast and seen Mount Cook from the west we travelled back north and east from Queenstown seeing Mount Cook from this eastern side. It's a truly alluring mountain so we couldn't resist driving to Mount Cook village to visit the Edmund Hilllary centre. Parking is a touch limited but the centre is fascinating and well worth... A great centre to learn about Mt Cook, the history of the heritage hotel and of course about Sir Hilary. Very well laid out, yet not over powering with information! More
