This lake exits straight into the sea. The waves throw up an embankment, damming up the lake until it can burst through. Used to be a fertile eeling place until the lake was controlled for flooding. Well-known for whitebaiting. The beach is wonderful - dangerous, huge undertow, not for swimming, but it is wild and exhilarating.

This glorified slough is actually quite a nice area to hang out on a nice day. The Western Lake Road, down to Ocean Beach, is particularly nice. You can catch eels and barbecue them...yum. Visit Onoke Spit in summer.
