Barry Brickell, what a legend. Not many people out there decide they need to build a miniature railway just to make it easier to move some clay about, but that's exactly what Barry did. The guidebook said it was worth a visit and my husband was sceptical (we're both 30 and I think he thought it was probably for kids... More

This is a mans project to build the railway which has taken over 35 years. The railway is set in beautiful scenery and at the top is the eyeful tower which gives you great views. The driver gives you info on how the owner has built the railway and there are hand made pottery pieces all the way round the... More

Quaint train ride, great views form the "eyefull tower" at the top. probably a bit pricey but a must do if you are in Coromandel. You must book ahead though or be prepared to go standby. More

This activity was recommend to us by our Motel...and we were not disapointed. It was relaxing...peacful and awe-inspiring to see Kiwi Ingenuity at play. Im not really into trains...but can totally see the appeal...especially when you see the thought and time that has gone into creating this little treasure. Would recommend for all ages. Suggestion: Take a jacket...it can get... More

It's a bit quaint, but a lot of fun. Yes, anywhere in NZ the scenery is spectacular, but this one-man dream railway is charming and unexpected views from the coast, the forest and the railway itself as it coils up, and switch back up the hill. More

I'm going to disagree with most of the previous reviewers. I found this railroad to be very overpriced for what you get. Yes, the New Zealand bush is beautiful here, but if you've seen it all over New Zealand already, it is not a draw. Neither is the pottery--at least the pottery pieces located alongside the tracks which were pointed... More

Impressively made and fun to go on. It was very busy and they were all booked up, so phone aheadif you can. Fantastic to know all the money made is going back into planting trees in this luscious green environment. More
