With volunteer divers who stay for 1-12 weeks, we are protecting the reef by replanting the coral reef, protecting the sharks and turtles, conducting surveys and actively demonstrating the value of marine protected areas. Accommodation at the moment is in tents on the beach, with good food provided 3 times each day. Showers and toilets are in a purpose built block nearby. Staying with TRACC is about diving with a purpose - conservation diving with scientists and marine biologists, every visitor contributes to the reef rebuilding, the turtle and shark monitoring surveys and the building of the fish aggregation devices. If you want part of your trip to be about contributing to the environment as well as diving on great coral reefs visit TRACC in Malaysian Borneo. « less

Lots of turtles on Pom Pom Island and TRACC are trying to maximise survival. We planted corals to help restore the reef and some of the group want to come back for the marine science courses More

Great experience, they really know all about the marine environment. I will be back for the coral spawning and coral reef ecology course. I planted corals, watched and dove with many many turtles and learnt so much about marine life. Reproduction without sex - who knew. Gay fish and sex changes, so much to learn. If Diving or the critters... More

On chance after a trip to mabul i went to pom pom island to volunteer with TRACC to help protect the reefs. The island is great, much better than semporna or Mabul, clean with many turtles. More

Had a fantastic time during my diving volunteer time on Pom Pom island with TRACC. The science was great and all the staff explain it in an understandable way if your not scientifically minded (like my girlfriend). Planting coral was a great experience, knowing that in a few years it will be flourishing and returning the reef back to how... More

We planted corals, counted turtles, conducted coral surveys and had lots of fun doing it. We were going to Mabul for ordinary diving, on an offchance we came to Pom POM to help TRACC. When we went... This was the highlight of our trip, great diving, and marine science instruction. We planted corals and helped make homes for fish. A real conservation activity. Lots and lots of turtles and fantastic marine life. The island is SOO much better than Mabul. clean white sand beaches, fantastic marine life and so easy to dive. Boats are not needed -... More

Thank you. It is really good to see visitors leave with a much greater understanding of the importance of the coral reefs. All our visitors participate in the coral planting and help to recover the reefs that were damaged in the past. It is a slow process but thanks to the help from all our visitors we can see the...
