Knowing this zoo consist of only rescued animals it surprisingly good. With Jaguars, sloths, monkeys, macaws, colorful frogs, hawks and many others I liked the one hour walk inside the zoo. The price has gone up to 5$ for foreigners but hey, it's for a good cause right?

$3 for locals, $5 for non- locals - entrance fee,and then you are lead past the cages of birds, monkeys,mammals, chickens (galore) emus, ONE < sleeping>Jaguar, a house for the frogs (but only 1 Yellow/Golden one) and various other animals. This place is innexpensive and have great animals that look well taken care of. May have too many kinds of chickens, but other than that, we think the visit is worth it. The gardens are beautifull.

You'll like it because of the surprising variety of animals and birds. Previous posters have mentioned the sub-standard habitats. If this bothers you, then don't bother with el Nispero--you'll hate it. This contrasts with the careful effort el Nispero makes to preserve the Golden Frog.

My wife and I didn't really expect much from a Zoo that was pretty hard to find in a desolate part of town, but we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our visit. Now don't let our 5 star review make you're think you're going to a Zoo at the level of The Bronx Zoo or San Diego... More

We went here to find the "Golden Frog" which you can see behind glass. The other frogs and toads however are also worth the trip. The grounds are well kept and there are many other animals worth a view.

Typical third world zoo where locals collect animals and birds and stick them in unsuitable cages. Some of the larger animals had insufficient room to act like animals and often were on concrete. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Have nothing to say about feeding. Most modern zoos eliminated such unnatural conditions decades ago.
