I was saddened that so many birds were caged & looked very sad too, while their other mates were freely flying about above & around them. The duck ponds were brown, dirty & stinking. Also found a duck wanting to get out of a caged area. She followed us & kept jumping up to us just along the caged area.... More

The kiwis were quite active which was good. The rest of the site was also enjoyable with many native species. There were several benches on the grounds which I would have liked to use but unfortunately they were all wet as it had been raining and none of then were in the undercover areas. More

We called by on our way north and stayed much longer than expected. It was calm and quiet and the birds seemed relaxed. We had the chance to see the keas, kakas and eels being fed. The handler on duty was friendly and happy to share her knowledge - it was interesting to get an insight into the personalities and... More

The owner of this park has dedicated his own beautiful natural property to protect endangered birds, animals and plants, kiwi, in particular. I have been to New Zealand six time but this is the first time I saw a live kiwi in the open environment. It is so beautiful and cute. The well equipped camp site is a part of... More

We couldn't leave New Zealand without seeing a Kiwi, and were definitely not let down. This sanctuary had two different species of Kiwi, plus most of the lizards and birds that are found here. Very nicely done, and considering the price of some of the other attractions, the $20 was well worth it! More

This is a must see attraction. Friendly staff, Great to see all the kiwi. Lots of different wildlife to view. I really liked to open walkthrough enclosure. If you walk across the road and up the hill alittle there are more enclosures with some interesting birds in. More

We stayed in the holiday park associated with the Kiwi House and got a discount which was nice. The Kiwi park was good and the Kiwi's themselves were quite good to watch for 10 mins. After viewign the Kiwis, the rest of the animals followed and we had a nice stroll around and then ventured back to the Kiwi's for... More

Beautiful day, visit the park at 9am, very friendly staff, kiwi's active behind the glass, never thought we would be able to see from 20cm distance, awesome! 50% of the park is run down and not maintained well, the other half looks reasonable. Local government should invest and promote this park, it will attract more tourist and the local restaurants,... More

Wonderful showcase of NZ birds. The kiwi birds in particular were the most active that I've seen in any wildlife enclosure. I would really urge people to go here - we spent 2.5 hours there and it only felt like 1 hour. More

We were looking forward to visiting to see Kiwis for the first time. Luckily we had a 2 for 1 voucher as I would have been very annoyed to have paid anymore for this! Basically it looks as though they have just picked a patch of woodland and put a fence around it. There are two kiwis in a dark... More
