This is one of the most evocative sites I've seen. The streets are there to be strolled as if the ruined buildings still existed. I enjoyed that the collapsed stone was in situ, for a change, giving a scale to the work of building this former city. Unlike Agrigento/Valley of the Temples, this is no Disneyland set of ruins, but...

Il tempio di Hera great, long walk to other temple but to be able to see the infra-structure of an ancient city made it all worth while

The temples are beautiful and the setting by the sea memorable but why is such a national treasure such a mess and so badly managed? The ticket office is dialpidated and closed so you pay for tickets (9 euros each) in the gift shop and frankly that's the most information you'll see anywhere on the site. It then costs another...

The distinctive attraction of the temples and acopolis of Selinunte is the situation overlooking the Mediterranean. If you are lucky enough to be 65+ you get in free as with most other sites. There's an open tourist bus to get around this large park - and the driver sang us a Sicilan song on request!

I have been here before and returned to take friends who had not seen it. It ranks as the TOP of the Greek Temple sights in SIcily for me. The setting is so lovely and the view from the temple by the sea is magnificent! Much more tranquil than the Valley of the Temples and you really get a feel...

This ancient Greek city is off the beaten path if you're traveling by bus/train, as we were, but definitely worth the effort to visit. The ruins themselves are extensive and fascinating, and the setting is sublime. If you're in reasonable shape, you can walk through the complex in 2 or 3 hours, enjoying the wild flowers and views of the...
