Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour is a must do activity for any Lord of the Rings fans visiting New Zealand. Just to see the land where my favourite scenes in the whole trilogy were filmed was amazing, as I was looking around, I could picture the scenes playing out in my head. It looks very much like it does on film. Dawn was a fantastic guide, she is lovely, and very knowledgeable about the films. She told us so many facts and interesting things about filming, as well as showing us images from the movies which were filmed there.

We took some amazing photos with props and weapons, I loved it! I'm so grateful that Dawn does these tours, as otherwise we wouldn't be able to see it because it's private farmland. Thanks very much to Dawn for a fantastic experience!

This tour was amazing! I don’t even know that I can write a review to convey how great this experience was.
Dawn was wonderful!! She knows so much about Lord of the Rings and is such a lovely person. I would have enjoyed just getting to visit with her more. She is so knowledgeable and I learned so many fascinating facts about the filming of the movie, the actors and Peter Jackson. It was such an interactive and fun small group!
It was so neat to see where the the 3rd LOTR battle scene was filmed. It was also very fun getting to use replica swords and take epic pictures with LOTR scenery in the background. My friend and I could stop talking about all the cool facts we learned and the fun that we had. This is so worth it and one of the best tours I have ever been on anywhere!

Terrific opportunity to get the low down on the filming of the battlefield scene in the third film. Dawn was a terrific guide giving us some fascinating inside information and was able to take us onto the private land where filming took place. You couldn't actually do this independently.

As a huge fan of both the books and films, I was ecstatic to find that there was a film location tour not far from where I am staying in Twizel. The tour itself was fantastic and it was a real privilege to be allowed on private property where one of the most iconic battle scenes in cinematic history was filmed. Dawn is equally as passionate about the films and books, it was a treat to be able to geek out and discover behind the scenes facts that I never knew about. There's plenty of photo opportunities with replicas from the film and the beautiful vistas while fully imaging what it was like to be there on set. I would highly recommend this tour to all fans.

We just loved this experience today and Dawn was brilliant. Even though the conditions were a bit tricky weatherwise she was able to conduct it perfectly and left us all feeling great afterwards. Dawn has a great knowledge of the movies and was able to take us to places not normally available for other visitors. Highly recommended!!!!

This tour was definitely worth the stopover in Twizel on our way to Wanaka. Dawn was an excellent guide and simply full to the brim with knowledge about the movies and the filming that took place there. It was amazing to see the Pelennor Fields in person - I would definitely recommend this tour!

For LOTR fans this is the most unique, incredible experience. Super informed & entertaining tour guides (can't remember her name but she was from Forest of Dean) and best of all every shred of info she provided - there was a mountain of it - was stuff i didn't know. That was so impressive. We all learnt so much. And of course dressing up and re-enacting scenes was immense fun. You HAVE to do this.

Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the books and movies. The day was looking like it would be a wash, but she stuck it out and the weather cleared up to a beautiful day. Great props, and lunch was awesome. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
