Amazing nice little walk at sunset-some of the best pics if our entire trip were here...very close to grant village where we were camping. Saw wildlife and loved the mix of geothermal features right next p the lake

Neat to walk around and see what's active and what's not. My boys loved the names on all of them. Hard to believe you have these hot spots of water with a cold lake a few feet away! Incredible Yellowstone!

Thsi is a fairly compact geothermal area close to Yellowstone Lake and has beautiful colours as well as lots of steam, mud pools, crystal pools as well as little waterfalls. In winter this is a fantastic place.

We entered Yellowstone from the south and this was our introduction to the park. This might not be the most famous area but it is still amazing. Lots to see on a nice short hike. The view of the basin with the lake in the background is fantastic. Make time for this stop if you can.

Right on the shores of Yellowstone Lake! Interesting springs, pools, geysers, and mud pots. You can see this in 20-30 minutes. If able, stop by early before the tour busses. We arrived at 845 am and the busses were arriving. As I was admiring the lovely Abyss Pool I was asked to move so that some could take a group... More

West Thumb tends to get windy, and the wind can be cold. Bring along a good jacket, even in summer. The Painted Pools are beautiful on a clear day. Gaze into the blue and bluer depths of Abyss and Black Pools. Admire the Fishing Cone, where people once cooked their trout while still on the line! A good portion of... More

Don't miss west thumb. There might not be huge geysers but there are beautiful hot springs, mud pots and fumaroles right on Lake Yellowstone. The boardwalk is easily navigable and there are some great photo opportunities along the way. It was a highlight of our trip and such an easy place to visit. I can still hear the mudpots gurgling... Variety of colored pools is distinct with easy access. Each pool is different and almost mesmerizing. A study in the abstract beauty of nature.

You will get the best up close in colors, micro matts, unreal 200 degree thermals, mud pots, boiling bubbling every things and the beautiful lake behind it. Tie down you hats if windy because you dare NOT go and get it. Lie down on the board walk and see the worms an little things moving about. (:)))
