People are friendly, but things are very commercial. Had they built the hotel with better views instead of hidden and built obviously by the lowest bidder it would be much better. Visitor center is good!

We stayed at the lodge, which was rustic but comfortable enough.
Choice of restaurants is very limited and the Lake House Grill was terrible. Had breakfast buffet at the Dining House which was very overrated. Third option was the restuarant at the General Store which I did not try, but was told by others it was good.

We liked the large selection of T shirts and souvenir items. The small grocery store area was well stocked when we went in early June, 2010. The grill restaurant was good for hot dogs. The clean restrooms were very much appreciated.

We went into this realizing that we are staying in a National Park. You stay there for convenience and to be in the park. With Yellowstone this can make all the difference for your trip. Spending time (which can be significant) traveling in and out of the park can really detract from your vacation time and ease. A traffic jam...

The room was clean. But the bathroom was small. Especially the shower was just tiny. I'd prefer a bigger place than this.
