The view when coming down the ramp into the bay is spectacular. The water is calm and great for young kids. Snorkeling is easy because you don't have to go far to see fish. They now require an admission fee which I fully support. It keeps the crowds down and helps pay for the preservation of the reef. I still...

We arranged the trip before we went as it was only $12 & included transport & snorkel hire. Wow-for a 1st time snorkeler the place will be with me forever as I've never seen such colourful fish. Have to be careful in places as water is shallow & u can get caught on the coral.

One of the best parts of our trip. We went here on our last day around 3pm so it wasn't crowded and it was beautiful. We almost didn't feel like going, but so happy we did! The sea turtles were super cute!

I have been to Oahu twice and to Hanauma bay 3 times.
This is by far my favorite part of hawaii. The snorkelling here is amazing. The water is crystal clear and the beach is fantastic. Its a really affordable place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of waikiki.

Most people find the snorkeling outstanding. Unfortunately, my spouse and I are not experienced snorkelers, and the masks we were given by the tour company who brought us there were flimsy and the tube kept coming off. We actually saw very few fish, but were not confident going out into deeper water. Though we'd heard you could see them even...

We got to Hanauma Bay around 8:30am. Watched the short film then walked downhill to the beautiful beach area. There are adequate bathroom facilities, and you can also rent snorkel equipment and locker space.
The middle part of the bay is protected from waves and is an ideal place to snorkel, especially for beginners. There is plenty of coral and...

Hanauma Bay is very pretty and is good for a nice photo-op but is anti-Hawaii in that the car lineups stretch out onto the highway, you have to pay for parking and pay to get into the area. We took some pictures and moved along to other spectacular locations along the coast that were less crowded.

beautiful beach, great for kids since it's shallow, great for snorkeling, calm water. Lots of fish. Be careful of the sun since there is little shade and sun gets pretty hot. Above the beach mongoose are often seen.

We go relatively often. The key is to go early in the morning when it's not so crowded. Check the schedule as during the summer they are sometimes open for night snorkeling which is awesome. This bay used to be trashed in the eighties and early nineties but the restrictions on parking and feeding the fish has really turned the...
