This was recommended by a local resident and I am very thankful I got to experience it. It is free if you drive there, they accept donations but it is unguided it was great! Do use bug spray or the mosquitos will greet you as well! More

Lyon Arboretum is right above Mona falls. Every time I said I wanted to go to the botanical gardens my husband rolled his eyes. He really enjoyed this place. I had read the reviews and may I say found them most helpful. Best tips: Closed in shoes, bug repellent, camera, park at the top, get a map. The main trail... More

We travelled by bus from Waikiki. The lush tropical rainforest gardens at the arboretum are grouped by species and there are many walking tracks. We hiked up to the waterfall (which was flowing quite strongly) and back along the main track, taking a few of the lesser paths occasionally by mistake as the map provided didn’t appear to be all... My wife and I went and really liked it. My kids would have not liked it so much. I like the sections and how they are set up. It's neat to see so many different varieties of plant life in one place. We went in the afternoon and only saw like 2 other people. If you've been on a tour... More

This is a great place to visit in addition to doing the Manoa Falls hike near the entrance. You get to see a whole different part of the island in the back of the valley-- cool and rainforesty. It's quiet back there and you can wander around in peace and quiet looking at the tall trees. Watch out for the... More
