My favorite Oahu hike, do this at least once every time we visit. Improvements have been made to the trail, recommend to go early in the day before too warm or crowded. Super views!

We drove up into the crater and hiked the rest of the way up to the tip of Diamond Head. Crazy me did in flipflops (not recommended) Amazing views once we reached the top. Remember to remove your sunglasses in the dark and narrow tunnell which does have some spotlights to guide you up. Turn left after the tunnell and... More

We took a cab from Waikiki to Diamond Head (very reasonable) on a Saturday morning. There was an fun farmers market in front of Diamond Head. The cab dropped us off at the entrance, where we had hotdogs (ha) and then we hiked up. The hike was relatively easy, and most anyone with normal walking capabilities can make it up.... More

I am 55 years old and the hike was fine. I could not make it up the last three staircases as I am afraid of heights. My daughter did make it to the top and took pictures for us. The hike was fairly easy as some of the trail is paved.

Make sure you go early or late to avoid the sun as it gets really hot. It is quite difficult. I am a slightly overweight moderetly fit female in my early forties. I found it hard but do-able just have rests and water and it is OK. Took me about 1/2hr each way. You know you are near when you... More

If you go, be ready for a hike up the crater. Once you reach the top, its well worth it. You'll be glad you made the climb. I highly recommend it, unless you can't handle steep trails and steps. View is tremendous.

This was a great experience! I think I lost a few good pounds getting to the top but we did it! and I had one of my boys on my shoulder most of the way up. It is very hot, not much shade and a long walk up and children can get very tired and hot. They do however get... More
