Upon a friend's recommendation, my husband and I secured tickets to this luau. You must be a member of the military or "sponsored" by someone. The receptionist at the hotel kindly sponsored us. Prior to dinner, there is entertainment for adults and kids alike, dancing, music and a demonstration by Cousin Dennis that is a sight to behold. Then the... More

I booked this online (im from canada and had to fudge my zipcode to purchase), once i paid only then realized you need to be military or have a sponsor to attend this. No worries I just called the activities desk at the hotel and the girl was more then happy to put her name on my file as our... More

I tried Paradise Cove last time I was in Hawaii (Oahu) and it was just OK. Quite a drive from Waikiki. So, this year, we tried the Hale Koa....it was great. For $50, this must be the best value around: a great Hawaiian dinner, drinks, lovely garden location, and fantastic entertainment. The crew also explained several cultural aspects of Polynesia... This luau was fun. I tried the Paradise Cove luau last visit, so my friend and I decided to try this one - compared to Paradise Cove, the Hale Koa's luau is much more humorous, while explaining the traditions and the dances. They do the standard coconut tree climb, imu Kahlua pig ceremony, conch shell blowing. It was strange that... More

You are ushered in and offered a drink (alcohol or not) immediately. Then while you walk the pretty grounds your kids can get a tattoo, watch them make a warrior headband from coconut leaves, see the skills demo which includes a barefoot coconut tree climber, enjoy the live polynesian music and be entertained until dinner. Once dinner is served it... More

We wanted to go to a Luau while visiting our daughter in Honolulu, but most of them cost a little more than our budget would allow. She is in the military so she checked the Luau at the Hale Koa Hotel and it was very reasonable. We didn't have real high expectations, but were wonderfully surprised with the great selection... The reviews are all correct. A great price for a polynesian night of wonder and good food. The "pre-dinner" activities are focussed around children with amazing mai tai's (virgin for the kids) and activities ran by the polynesian people. The food is fantastic and very large portions. The hula show is fantastic with fire dancing, hula, songs, etc. Overall a... More

There are several great luaus on Oahu, but the Hale Koa's is tough to beat for quality AND convenience if you're staying on Waikiki. If you're short on time I highly recommend this luau. More

W/all the luaus catering to Waikiki visitors, this one gets often lost in the shuffle. But, for the price, and ambiance, it can't be beat, and it has affordable and ample parking. Being a local Hawaiian, I've been to, and seen ALL of the Waikik, and this is the best for its price, and quality.i More

A colleague recommended this as one of the better luaus on Oahu, so we decided to give it a shot for some pig-in-a-pit. The tickets say that the show starts at 5:00, but in reality that is when they open the gates, you don't get seated and served until closer to 5:45. That said, during that time they have stuff...
