Our 3 and 4 year old daughters love to come to the museum for all the interactive, hands-on exhibits. Almost the entire first floor has been given over to an area just for kids. We have a membership and it has been a godsend in the winter. The membership (as of today) is only $60 for a family and pays... More

As we continue to install our remaining five science studios, there will be more activities geared towards multi-generational learning while still highlighting our rich collections. My family has been members for years and while we were happy to hear about the new exhibits we were underwhelmed when actually seeing them. They are very generic and plasticy. Most of them offer little information and don't reward repeat visits. I was appalled to find out that they are actually planning on getting rid of their Egypt exhibit... More

Thank you for your feedback and for your continued membership support. While I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment in some of the changes we've made to our permanent experiences, they have been extremely well-received by many of our guests, educators and school groups. We're taking a step away from the typical diorama-style Natural History Museum to encourage active learning... More

Step into the Buffalo Museum of Science today and you might be surprised by all the construction going on both inside and out. Originally conceived as a natural history museum, it is slowly being converted into an interactive hands-on science center. New exhibits are opening at a rate of about 2-3 per year and for the price of admission you... More

Thank you for your review. We are certainly working hard to bring new experiences to the museum and while our science studios do have a Science Center feel about them, we are infusing their interactive stations with our collection of 700,000+ artifacts and specimens - making the BMS experience incredibly unique! While our National Geographic 3D Cinema is not IMAX,... More

The Buffalo Museum of Science is a great treasure in the city of Buffalo. The Main exhibits are constantly being changed, updated and improved. They also have been able to bring in many of the touring exhibitions that are usually only seen in the larger cities. Great for kids and adults alike!

Yes, we're definitely keeping busy here at the Museum! We're working very hard to transform our visitors' experiences, make them more relevant to current science topics and infuse them with interactive components. We hope you visit again soon, and be sure to mark your calendar for BODY WORLDS Vital, opening May 31, 2013! Thank you for your review. Sincerely, Amy... More

We went to this Museum that is currently under contraction, but you won't even notice that. The museum is 4 story and has something for all ages. We mostly liked the part that were hands on and how we created our own weather report and were able to email it for free. You must go and experience this we will... More

Mostic, Thank you for your review and we look forward to seeing you again! Be sure to mark your calendar for the new 'Body Worlds Vital' travelling exhibition opening May 31. It's a different experience than the Body Worlds exhibition hosted in both Buffalo and Ontario in Summer 2009. Our new interactive Motion Science Studio will also open in June,... More

We just returned from a day trip to this museum with our 5 and 7 yr old. Though it is not a large museum and some parts are older and only for looking at, the kids spent alot of quality time in various areas exploring and asking questions, which is what I expect from a science museum. Some things that... More

LC, thank you for your review and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your visit. A 5-year project is currently underway to update our collections galleries into eight interactive science studios similar to the Our Marvelous Earth space with the earthquake table & wind chamber you mentioned. Two studios have already opened and our Motion science studio opens in June... More

This is a nice little science museum that will entertain 7- to 11-year olds for a couple of hours on a rainy day. Older kids and adults with an avidity for fossils may find it enjoyable too. It's smaller and less flashy than similar museums in other cities, but its displays of fossils and dioramas demonstrating local Western New York... More

Thank you for your review and apologize for not posting the film issue on our website. Oftentimes our cinema glitches are corrected before we even have a chance to update the website, but unfortunately that film was down for a longer period than usual. The lack of communication was our mistake and we're sorry for the inconvenience. We will be... More

A small museum, but lots of interactive exhibits for the little ones and adults alike. Best part is that it's not overly busy so you can keep tabs on little scientists as they zip back and forth. Great value as well. Definitely consider this a museum for families with children & not really for adults looking for a quiet, cultural... More
