The exterior design of the building was interesting but we weren't really thrilled with the art. I guess we were expecting older examples of southwest art than the really modern stuff. Overpriced in my opinion for what was available. Part of the building was closed down for remodeling. Plenty of other art galleries in Santa Fe that we loved.

This art museum is pretty small and limited as art museums go: No Monets or Renoirs, no ancient Egyptian mummies, no ancient Roman sculptures or Faberge eggs. There were some great works of art by Georgia O'Keeffe. But I have to say I was a little disappointed. Then I ventured upstairs, and was exposed to a new art form: I... More

Only the downstairs galleries were open for several good temporary exhibitions. In a historic building, well worth a visit even now. The inner courtyard is pleasant, quiet.

We were able to visit this place on a Friday evening when admittance was free. From what I know now, it would have been well worth paying for the experience.

Most of the space is taken up with special exhibitions although the permanent collection is arranged in an informative manner explaining the some 1400 years of New Mexican art from the earliest Indian settlers. While we were there, we saw an excellent video art exhibition using innovative projection surfaces. Admission is $9.00 for non-residents, meaning tourist visitors ($6.00 for residents).... More

Maybe because the upstairs was closed, this museum seemed like a lot of money for what they had. $9 a person and we were in there about 25 minutes. Some interesting stuff but I liked the State House better and it was free!

There was an ambitious exhibit while we were there that promised a panoramic and theoretically unified walk through the history of New Mexico art. It didn't. But it did have some interesting points and pieces. This is a city with tough museum competition, not to mention galleries. There are others I would start with, but I wouldn't ignore this one.

A small but impressive collection. Well worth the time. Especially enjoyed the photography exhibit of Moun Saint-Michel & Ship Rock side-by-side.

I almost didn't check out this museum and it would have been a big mistake. Since it was complimentary for North American Reciprocal Program, we visited it after the O'Keeffe museum. Not only did they have some O'Keeffe paintings, but they had a lot of other intersting work which gave us insight to all the important artists who have worked... More

We made a short tour on Sunday afternoon. It was interesting but there was nothing outstanding to see.
