I must be missing something--I was not impressed or enchanted or even charmed. It was actually quite scary..and dirty! It is crowded, the sidewalks are small and crumbling, people are rude and there are homeless people in every direction you look. Don't miss a walk through the plaza when you visit downtown Santa Fe. It is part of history and marked the end of the old Santa Fe Trail.

Unique and lovely offerings. Art and local culture combine for a wonderful experience. Come during the week if you want to avoid crowds and give yourself enough time to go in every door. The metro parking on San Francisco is covered and while not cheap is a great convenience. They only take CASH or CHECKS.

I am cheating here....As a transplanted resident, I find much to love about Santa Fe, from the vibrant visual arts scene to the great outdoors. But if you stay too long, the cracks will appear. Went to the plaza because it seemed like the thing to do while visiting Santa Fe. Toured the Palace of the Governors and found it interesting. Aside from that, I found it mostly unremarkable.

Lovely and definitely great place for an afternoon picnic, though it can get a little more crowded as the day moves to evening. Open area with plenty of seating, though I would caution some who are not familiar with pan handlers to keep an eye on the kiddos. Balloon artists, popcorn vendors and frisbeee....definitely worth an hour or two.

Lots of high end merchandise, but if you aren't looking for jewelry or clothes you can skip the shops. The were some good native American street vendors.
