My husband and I love to tour historic homes, and this one did not disappoint. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and didn't mind when we interrupted his train of thought to ask a question. I had never thought of Salem as such an important part of history. I thought of it only regarding witch trials and Nathaniel Hawthorne. It was... More

We visited the Phillips House for one of their winter weekends programs, but came an hour early to get a full tour of the House. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and able to answer almost all of our questions about the home and the family that owned it since 1911. It's amazing to see a home that has remained... More

The Phillips house shows a piece of Salem history from the perspective of a family who lived in the prosperous and historic McIntyre district on what's been named one of the most beautiful streets in America. Each room has new treasures to discover, both of the era from when the house was built and from the global collections of Mr.... More

The house is owned by Historic New England and it is one of the few which is open year round. We had a great tour, just the two of us and our guide, and we were able to ask as many questions as we wanted. It didn't feel like a tour, more of a visit to someone's new house. Our... More

If you get sick of all the Pirates and Witch stories in Salem but really enjoy history, this is definitly a worthwhile place to visit. The admission was only $5 but there was alot to see between the Carriage House and the Main House. Our guide was great. He had tons of stories about the house and past residents and... More

Our tour guide was very condescending. I tripped on a rug (luckily for me I didn't fall) and fixed it and she scolded me as if I were a child. I understand the value of these priceless arifacts but perhaps the rug should not be displayed or roped off so that the visitor is safe as is the rug.Totally ruined... More

Dear Suzanne, Please accept my sincere apolgies that a staff member made you feel the negative way that you did. While we appreciate that the objects in our museum are priceless and irreplaceable, so are the people who walk through our doors. I, too, am disappointed that you received this treatment. I will look into the situation for the safety... More

To finally see the inside of one of the historic mansions on this street, was a bit of a thrill. Beautiful place.

This was my third trip to Salem, so I was looking for something a little off the beaten-path to do. This tour was so worth it! It was $5 and because we went early in the morning, there was no one else there, so it was a private tour for my husband and I. On the map, it looks deceptively... More
