We came to Salem to get some history and got a good dose here. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We were told that these tours can sometimes get booked up early, but were the only two on our tour.

Its very close to Hilton hotel and is a landmark in Boston and can be seen from a distance. Its a tall tower and I am not sure if you can go to the top of the tower on weekends. But I am sure, you can see the Boston skyline from the top

We took the tour of the ship Friendship and this house was included. Very interesting and we had a wonderful guide. I would recommend doing both. Not sure if you can go through the Custom House unless you do the Friendship tour.

The guide for the National Park Service tour of the old Salem merchant ship Friendship and the Old Custom House was incredibly knowledgeable, and also placed the information he presented in the context of the development of the Salem, the region and the U.S.A. The more he responded to the tour group's questions, the more we wanted to know.

An amazing experience. What a great glimpse into the town of Salem hundreds of years ago. Nathaniel Hawthorne worked here. See ship manifests, tools, and even a giant scale. A beautiful building as well.

The guide provided informative info on the connection of the custom house and Hawthorne's novel , "The Scarlet Letter."
Peaked my interest and I re-read the novel. The building itself was nothing special. If it hadn't been for my interest in Hawthorne, I would not have found it interesting. Great view of the wharfs from the building.
