I work right across the street from the Arcade. Sadly it has been shuttered for about four years. What was once the heartbeat of the financial district became a blight. But there's hope -- a devloper announced plans last week to reopen the Arcade as a mixed-use retail and living space with eateries and shops on the first floor, and... More

Architecturally, this place is fantastic - stained glass skylights, wood floors, and ironwork railings built during the Greek revival era. Built in 1828, this was America's first indoor mall. It fell into a state of disrepair, but in the early 1980's (I believe) it underwent an extensive and historically accurate renovation restoring the building to it's former glory. For several... More

It is as good as going to the Outlet Dept Store, Sheppards, Wollworths, or the many other places that are only there in the minds of RI who just can not seem to forget them and move on! More

I loved this place because of it history. Now a days you can visit any mall or shopping centers with all the fancy mordern upgrades of todays architecture design but here you can witness the over 20 foot high pillars made from a local quarry for the Arcade that was built back in the late 1800s. Take the time and... More

Fantastic building but there are no stores left. I hope the city does something to rebuild it. Sad. More

When I saw someone give the Arcade "one star" I had to write a review! The Arcade is an unbelievably beautiful building. Yes, shame on the owners for letting it go but whenever I'm there at lunch it's bustling with life. There's at least five dedicated owner operated restaurants on the first floor. On the second floor, Copacetic Jewelry, of... More

30 years ago this building was in good condition with storefronts aplenty and shoppers to match. These days you will find many vacant stores and those that exist are not worth the visit to. If you stop by you will find that it is thoroughly unkept, even with safety and security issues. If shopping is your call for the day... More
