A very scenic, easy drive but because I was there mid May, it was not open all the way. I will have to return when the road is open to fully enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful drive in the mountains. Many photo ops and wildlife to admire. Elk and a variety of birds were at the top if the list on this visit. Love this drive. So scenic. Almost didn't get to drive over the Ridge this trip as it was fogged in due to rain the previous day. They opened the road just 15 minutes before we arrived at the Entrance Station. Definitely a cannot be missed drive!!!
If you like majestic mountains, spectacular views, and watching wildlife this goes to the top of your "to do" list. Bear Lake and cute Estes Park are nice, but THIS should be your destination.
I have traveled this road both ways numerous times it never gets old it is amazing ride and great nature trip. We prefer early or late season due to summer crowds and traffic can get horrible. Right after roads opens for solitude, summer for alpine flowers and elk grazing at the top of the pass, end of season for awesome...

I've been over this road several times and it never ceases to amaze me. Being in the mountains among the clouds is a fantastic experience. If you visit Rocky Mountain National Park, this drive is a must do. Be sure to stop at the pull outs to do a bit of hiking and take pictures. Bring binoculars to look closer...

The views are always great, often with wildlife sightings. Beware of drivers who simply stop on the road to jump out and take pictures of moose, elk, etc. It's slow and winding, but worth your time.
Took some guests thaat were on thier honeymoon in June..its a must see. Took Mom and saw 5 Moose in July.. The alternate route is awesome too if you have 4 wheel drive.
dang road should have guard rails, butother than that, it is simply amazing and the views are to die for. This is a must for anyonevisiting Estes Park.
