We spent 5 hours at Pamplin and did not see everything. I guarantee you will not be bored with this attraction since it is so interactive and keeps you interested the whole time you are there. There is a plantation, a museum that shows the life of a soldier, a battle field, films, several houses, farm animals, an education center...everything... More

The Museum of the Civil War Soldier is excellent! To fully appreciate it allow at least an hour and a half to go through this part of the Park. More

A combination museum, park, and living history site, this private foundation owned park is amazing. One feature is the interactive Museum of the Civil War Soldier where you can assume the persona of a selection of soldiers and view the exhibits through there eyes. Then, there are miles of trails through the area where the Federals finally broke through the... More

We almost sailed right by this park on our way to the Petersburg National Battlefield. But the guidebook said "a must see" and it was. The museum provides a "real life" experience of being on a battle field and the grounds have trails through actual battlefields. The self-guided tour was done with head phones. We went on a Friday and... More

My husband and I visited Pamplin Historical Park early March, 2012. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. You get to choose a civil war soldier to follow through the war. At the end, you find out whether or not your soldier "made it" or not. You should allow yourself at least 2 hours for this park. Also, we drove through the... More

Reenactors provide a lot of living history, and help kids to get a grasp of what it might have been like in the Civil War era. Wear comfy shoes since you will be walking on a lot of unpaved paths. More

On your walk through the traditional galleries, you can get headphones and players on loan that will give you a docent's tour without the docent. You can even customize the docent's tour by entering various numbers on your player to play additional info about specific items that interest you. I went with my 12-year-old cousin with ADHD, and the headphones/players... More

A must see for anyone interested in Civil War history. Well worth the admission fee. Appeared to be a thoughtful, respectful, unbiased, and accurate portrayal of events. The museum was interactive and impressive. Our favorite part was the grounds and the earth works that were preserved showing the original lines. Knowing we were standing in the exact spot hundreds of... More
