If you are in the DC area for a visit, PASS THIS BY. There is just nothing there but chain restaurants you can find elsewhere in the city, and convention goers looking for an average meal. Stayed at the Gaylord, were disappointed, ate at ketchup, were REALLY disappointed. Nothing to do except take the water taxi AWAY from here!

Beware: if you are excited at the prospect of visiting the D.C. area attractions (museums, the Capitol, surrounding towns like Georgetown or Alexandria), you may be better off just staying at home than visiting "National Harbor." While the Washington monument is visible through hotel lobby windows, getting there is another matter. You see, "National Harbor" is no harbor, but is... More

I visited the Harbor with my family last week and we had an enjoyable experience. There are several hotels, boutiques, restaurants and activities in the area to enjoy. Overall, we felt very safe and will visit again in the near future. Note: there is plenty of parking in the area, which is very clean.

There is no life on the national harbor yet. It feels like a ghost town for four suburbanites. There are a few restaurants in an outdoor mall-like setting, and a few shops. A few major hotels dot the harbor, like a Westin and a Residence Inn, as well as the monolith Gaylord. It simply lacks ANY local color because there... More

My experience at the National Harbor was excellent. I visited National Harbor the first weekends in APril and May. I stayed at the Aloft Hotel both weekends. Both times the rooms had a great view of the harbor. My room had a view of the bridge which lights up at dusk. The morning sunrise is a wonderful sight to wake... More

Wow!! We went yesterday, a cold, windy Monday, so really didn't get the full effect. We had a great time, it is beautiful and despite the Monday and cold weather, and most of the folks there were from conventions. Main point of going, replacing a very worn out Black Dog cap. We had lunch there, that will be a separate... More

We didn't expect to see an area like this so close to the Gaylord. What an amazing assortment of restaurants and gift shops. Just walking around, to discover an eating place, was a pleasure. The waterfront views added to the "Plus".

National Harbor exists for one reason: conventions at The Gaylord. Which explains the plethora of moderately-priced average restaurants catering to the per-diem crowd. Every restaurant is Average. No reason to go, unless you just want the thrill of a water taxi ride from Old Town or Georgetown. Shops you can find anywhere and drug stores you can find anywhere. In... More

National Harbor offers plenty to do from strolling along the river, to shopping, to selecting fine dining, to taking in any special event offered throughout the year. Check for events like boat / yacht shows, wine/beer festivals, "taste of the town", fireworks, cirque du soleil , music offerings, winter wonderland theme events to name a few.... Plan on doing a... If that floats your boat then you will be in paradise. We attended a conference at the Gaylord and the entire area is very artificial. I hadn't noticed until I saw a woman walking a dog but there isn't even grass for the most part. We ate dinner at one of the restaurants and watched a fellow with a napsack... More
