The temple took 40 years to build because it was made by hand. The granite was all taken from cottonwood canyon. Anybody visiting even if you are not lds should visit. Don't forget the visitors center.

We took our dog for a walk there and I was amazed at how beautiful the grounds were. I'm wanting to go back in a week or two and see what else is blooming.
The buildings are beautiful. Although non Mormons cannot go inside the Temple but the exhibit gives a glimpse of what is inside. The information about the history of the Mormon church removes the mystery of the religion. A must see in Salt Lake City.
Visiting the temple grounds seemed like a must thing to do since we were passing through Salt Lake City. The grounds were magnificently groomed. You obviously can't go inside, unless you are mormon, but it's a great building, made of local granite like stone, quarried at Little Cottonwood Canyon. It took 40 years to be completed. The gardens around the Temple are very beautiful, a great place to hang around.
this is a great place to visit if you are interested in the history of the west and the mormon pioneers. this building was built with the finest materials available at the time. the craftsmanship is wonderful. can only be viewed from the outside, but still impressive.
It is a Mormon temple, so if you have the ability to go, I seriously recommend it. If you are not a member, please take the time to look around the grounds and check out the location. It is a beautiful and serene location.
If you read the signs around the plaza you get a better understanding of the Mormon faith. I am not religious, but it was nice for my intellectual curiosity.
If you are in SLC, this is of course a must-see place. The temple area is very beautiful and relaxing. It's really nice to have a walk there. The Visitor Centers have a lot of information about Mormons. While you walk here, you will get contacted by the missionaries; this can be annoying for many people of course. My strategy...
