I had not known of Ocmulgee National Monument until I read a guidebook and we stopped in the Macon Visitor's center. The movie in the visitor's center is very worthwhile to get an overview before you walk to the mounds. The historical significance is really astounding. The area is very pretty and I am sorry we didn't have an extended... More

One of the few historic sites of Indian civilization (cities) in the US. For the historically inclined, you could really imagine a lot here. Nice peaceful setting, the mounds are unlike anything I've seen outside of Mexico. The Ranger was very welcoming, kind and informative. Very worthwhile. More

Great place to visit. 12,000 years of human habitation. 1,000 year old Earth Lodge floor. Over 5 miles of trails, some paved, some through woods. Climbed to the top of the Great Temple Mound built by the Mississippians. The museum has a lot of information and artifacts. And it is FREE. Saw a bluebird and an alligator! More

Well informed guides. Enjoyed the movie and the static presentations. To be able to walk into the mounds at the ceremonial lodge was breath taking. Also went to a night walk with the park lit by lantern light. Awe inspiring. More

I lived in Macon 15 years before visiting the "Indian Mounds". It's one of the few sites around middle Georgia that is real Native American history. It's matured from just a couple of mounds and small museum to an real educational experience. Native Americans from the area are now involved in presenting their history. More

It was not that fun or exciting. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone else. It was terrible service and they were very rude. More

walking is required, unpowered wheelchairs would be very difficult, the entry to the mound required bending over and walking, teens were bored, saw a train pass under the walkway-nice to see it. More
