There are many ways to hike around the area and the views are first rate. The last section of Flat top was only for snow/ice climbers in May 2012 but the earile parts of flat top were well worth the walk for the views. More

It is a great hike but you definitely need some good shoes and water and it can be windy in some spots so I recommend a wind breaker More

I went in the summer and it was packed. I didn't even bother going to the top. Found a frisbee in a gulley and played with that instead, if I remember correctly. More

One of the most popular trails in the Anchorage area, well-known for its ease of access and relatively gentle upward climb. The most difficult part would be at the very top because of the rocks. You might need to use your hands as well as your feet to reach the summit. Even if you don't make it up there, no... More

Might be cloudy in spring and winter. May be good for skiing in trail. More

Its a classic with beautiful views at times you can even see Denali. Have patience when hiking as its a veritable highway during summer, as popular as diamond head in HI or Camelback in AZ. Use caution when climbing and know your limits the last time someone was medivacced out it took 3+\- hours until appropriate help was successful in... More

Most climbed mountain in Alaska. Lots of hikers from 2 years old to 80. Most of the trail is fairly easy. The last 200 yards at the top is a bit challenging with hand over hand rock. Not recommended for little kids at that stage but some can handle it. Take water with you on hot days. Don't forget your... More

Like others say, this is a relatively short, sometimes steep hike. In the spring and early summer, you will get wet from melting snow, especially after near-record snow in 2012. The view is fantastic from the parking lot, let alone the top. And the hike is worth it. Know yourself. Plenty of people can do this in shorts and casual... More
