Eklutna Lake has become a regular summer activity for my friends and I. It's a great place for an evening kayak adventure and the kayak rentals are generally at a reduced price after 6pm. We usually stop somewhere along the shore and have a little campfire and roast marshmallow.

This is about a 30 minute drive or so north of Anchorage, but it's worth it when you see how beautiful this place is! I loved going here growing up in Alaska, and it's always a treat to come back and see it time and time again.

At the end of a ten mile uphill road, this lake and its valley come into view and BAM! It takes your breath. It is beautiful year round but summer and especaiily fall are amazing. You can canoe, Kayak, picnic, camp or rent a cabin even. It has a easy moderate bike trail that goes to the end of the... More

I will never forget my first trip to Eklutna Lake. I absolutely loved it there! It was the first place were I ever saw a moose in the wild, and every time I go to Alaska I always go here and just walk the beautiful trails.

We do this one every spring cause it melts early and is nice and flat for the stroller. We havent biked it but it would be muddy if rainy as we had to skirt some muddy spots. We took a picnic lunch and ate along the lake watching the mountains and the kids played in the rocks and sand. You... More

The trail at Eklutna offers a great riding experience. Not much altitude change, easy riding for any mountain or fat bike. I rode to the Yuditna cabin, dropped off my sleeping gear, and kept riding. The glacial water is gorgeous on a sunny day. After an afternoon ride, I went back to the cabin and enjoyed beach walking, and a... More

I'm so glad that we live close to Lake Eklutna. The lake, the area, the drive up is beautiful. There are bike trails, 4 wheel trails, camping hiking and kayak rental. We also saw our first bear up close here. Lake Eklutna is a must see any time of year!!

Just about 30 minutes North of Anchorage you will find Lake Eklunta in the Chugach State Park. It has a very nice camp ground, but it is ideal for day walkers/visitors as well. The scenary is spectacular and there is a glacier at the far end of the lake. That would be an all day walk or maybe a bike... More

It is a beautiful place and one that should be experienced by all. I suggest doing the kayak out and bike back return trip provided you are in good shape b/c it is a workout!
