My family and I spent almost a whole day in the Zoo; having lunch in the cafe but as it was 'out of season' there was very limited choice and was just about OK for the money. The Zoo itself is excellent especially the bird aviary which is an extremely large walk-in type well stocked with different types of bird.... More

Very modern zoo, now styled "BIOIPARC". Not cheap at 19.50 euros for adults and 13.50 for children over three, but this is definitely a good day out. High quality, very well laid out on two levels in an old quarry site and most of the animals seem to have sufficient room (even if the zebras and giraffes looked a bit... More

Great zoo in Doue la Fontaine with free parking opposite the entrance. We were very impressed with the scale of the place and the different areas that had been created, our favourite being the bird enclosure where you could get up close and personal with some of the inhabitants like the penguins. Nice to see parks like this putting in... More

I visited this zoo last October on my way from Brittany to Normandy. The free flight aviary of South America was amazing. The best zoo I have ever visited!!! If you go, the main aviary is just amazing, I live in North America, this is probably the closest I'll get to seeing flocks of Macaws flying free.

We've been visiting Doue zoo regularly for over ten years. Using the quarries as enclosures creates a far more humane and attractive environment for the animals. It also allows tall trees which provides a magnificent setting for species like snow leopards which are great climbers. It has a wonderful selection of uncommon animals. The zoo continually invests to improve the... More

The family really enjoyed this zoo especially the free flying bird enclosures. It is an excellent day out.

Even if I am not very interested in animals and have no grand-children visiting, I must say that this zoo is such a lovely place just to stroll around. It is very well done with lots of green plants, trees and water and also much space for the animals. And to feed the cute and kind girafs at the end... More

This is a simply fantastic place. Built in an old quarry, it is on two levels, and as you walk around it really doesn't feel like a zoo. You walk in and out of caverns and amongst large rocks, which always means it feels rather more private than a massive zoo. There are a lot of animals here, and well... More

This zoo is set in an old quarry, which adds a great deal of interest as you wind through the various sections of the zoo. There is a great selection of animals with good viewing areas. The highlight is probably the aviary. There is so much to explore in this wonderful zoo. Highly recommended as a great family day out.

We regularly visit the Loire and go to the zoo every couple of years - attractions change each time! We have been visiting since my son was about 5 - he is now 20 but still enjoys it (although my daughter, now age 14, insists on us going because she loves animals). This zoo can be "done" in a couple... More
