Rangers were eager to show us the particular history and natural attractions of the park. They even posted some videos of sharks on the social media section of their website! More

Behind Honokohau Harbor is Kaloko-Honokohau National Park. It is beautiful at the beach. Simply walk threw the harbor, to the right along the back side of the harbor is a path that goes to the park. It is amazing, old world and will surprise you as to how pretty. You can swim, but not why you go to this beach.... More

We went to the other two National park locations on the west coast of Hawaii on a previous trip to the island and found them to be fascinating: informative staff, buildings to see, historical information on display, clear signs.... The big island is about the only island that you can see undisturbed historical areas. This park has had some good restoration, but everybody that I have taken here has enjoyed it. More

The park is nicely developed. It has several trails through the lava and down to the beach and fish ponds. One of the best birding spots on the island. More

Park over at the nearby marina and walk into the park right onto the beach. Lots of turtles easily seen in the fish ponds and shoreline. But no touching or disturbing the turtles! More
