We tour select historic restaurants and discuss their culinary contributions - including the two oldest (Antoine's and Tujague's, established in 1840 and 1856 respectively). Visitors will learn the difference between Cajun and Creole cuisine, and will hear of the varied ethnic influences that contribute to New Orleans cuisine. You will also enjoy a rue cooking demonstration by a creole chef. Food samplings include Seafood Gumbo, Turtle soup, Praulines, Muffuletta, Gelato, Brisket with Creole Sauce, Shrimp Remoulade and more. Come join us as we walk talk and taste our way through the rich culinary history of New Orleans. Visit our website and read hundreds of unedited reviews. « less

I have been to New Orleans many times, but this tour taught me so much that I didn't know about the history of the settlement of New Orleans and the development of its cuisine. It's all done in a delightful way through visiting local historic restaurants such as Arnaud's and Antoine's, and tasting their specialities. The shrimp remoulade at Arnaud's... More

It was our first visit to New Orleans and we wanted a little history of the culinary traditions. We were not disappointed. Candy was our guide and the tour was a good 2 hours of stops at some of the most famous French quarter landmarks, with tastes of well-known specialties (the shrimp in mustard sauce at Arnaud's was exceptional). What... More

This was a great experience. We had behind the scenes tours in historical restaurants. Each restaurant provided a great sample of its specialty. The tour guide was very knowledgable about food and New Orleans history. By the end of the afternoon, he seemed like an old friend. This has something for everyone: history buffs, foodies, and budding chefs. Thanks! More

I read about the New Orleans Culinary Tour in Spirit Magazine (Southwest Airlines) in early March on another trip. Got home and went on line and booked the walking tour as I was spending a week in French Quarter later in March. We went yesterday and it was worth every penny ($46 each). We went to restaurants that we probably... More

Our daughter is a major young foodie (14) so we decided to keep this part of our trip a surprise until we arrived for the tour. She was thrilled! This is a great tour if you love good food. We are not huge fans of guided tours so we were thrilled that this also gave us a good look at... More

Loved this tour! Combined an interesting tour of the French Quarter with samples of great New Orleans food from some great restaurants! The tour was from 2 - 5pm, when the restaurants aren't busy, so we got to go inside and take a look and sample some great food! Rene was our guide and she knows her stuff! We had... More

A three hour walking tour experiencing the history and culinary examples of New Orleans in the French Quarter. We visited some of the “finer” establishments of the French Quarter for both food and drink. It would have been nice to have possibly larger samples of the New Orleans food….don’t expect to have a four course meal with the tour –... More

Had an excellent time today doing this tour tasting gumbo, learning about the history of the French quarter with a very knowledgable guide. Good food, great people a great way to experience NO if you're interested in food. you might not be hungry at the end of the tour after sampling the various specialties along the way. I was surprised to see no review of the French Quarter Culinary History and Tasting Tour in Trip Advisor when I was searching for a food tour of New Orleans. This was an outstanding way to spend the afternoon sampling such Louisiana specialties as turtle soup, seafood gumbo, red beans and rice, pralines, muffulettas, and shrimp remoulade. Not only was...
