For a free museum it is a nice local attraction to see dinosaur bones and rocks that glow in the dark. Parking is not always easy to find but it is a fun thing to do for a few hours. We have also gone here for Cub scout programs and the guides are very knowledgeable. More

Amazing place with lots of things to look at, touch and find. Go on the tour to get the most of this. I took our cub scout a couple times and he even bought real gold in a bottle. Great time with lots of experiences. Wisconsin had dino's!!! More

Inexpensive fun for adults and children. Took our 13 and 10 year old and both enjoyed the visit. Not always easy to find parking. More

This isn't a huge place but it's big enough that we spent 2 hours here and could have spent more. Not only do they have a great collection of rocks and minerals and gems, they have skeletons of many dinosaurs and lots of fossils! My kids loved the flourescent minerals with the black light (a whole wall full of them!)... More

The crystals were so pretty that I could never get sick of looking at them. They have ones that glow in the dark too. Loved the fossils. The dinosaurs impressed me with their size. Liked the giant globe too. Free will donation. More

If you are looking for a world reknowned museum - head to Chicago. However, its definitely worth the trip if you are on the UW campus (since its free). I especially liked the info on the local Madison geology and decorating the dinosaur's in Christmas is great! More

Get it? A real gem? This is a great little university museum with super cool fossils and gems and even meteorites. The staff are college kids and they are eager, friendly, and knowledgable. More
