The fort is near Lonavala. One can reach there by taking a local train from Lonavala and get down at Malavali Railway Station i.e next station or can go directly from Lonavala by some public transport to the fort's base village which is approximately 12 km. I went by Malavali Route during Monsoon. Lohgad Fort is about 6.5 km from... More

If you are leaving in Pune/Mumbai, it is nice place for weekend outing. As it is not too high, you can visit the place with Family. If you are non-vegetarian, you will get good mutton dish at starting point of the lohgad, but don't forgot to order in advance at list 2 hour.

500 steps from Logadwadi village .ice architecture and view from the top. Presence of water tanks amkes it miraculous . Ends with a hiking treck to Scorpion Sting . No food and water is avialable on the top , hence carry enough water .

About the fort - This fort was an important fort for the Maratha kingdom as it guarded a very important Thane-Pune route which was essential for trade and military. (The expressway still passes from the same route and you can easily see Lohgad on Malavali section towards your right). This was basically used as watchtower during Maratha rule and Chhatrapati... The fort was amazing. After a nice sweaty climb up to the main entrance, there were still more stairs to go!! There are many great little spots you can stop and take photos at. But the best part is the views. Amazing, Beautiful views of the expanse of the greater lonavala area. If your keen you can try and spy... More

Whether I meant to say breathless or breathtaking, it would both hold true - breathless because you'd be tired by the time you reached the top, and breathtaking because every point enroute to the top offers you scenic beauty. Lohagad is about 15kms from Lonavala and road is really in a bad condition, and direction boards, very few. But once... More

There are two forts which are adjacent to each other. Lohgarh and Visapur. The best part of the area is Visapur Fort. Lohgarh fort directly have steps to climb and its very less adventurous to go there if you are doing it for trekking purpose. But the views from are breathtaking. You will love the plac eif you are history... More

I really liked the fort, with the steep cliffs and interesting water reservoirs. I could have used a better guide who had a little more knowledge of the history, but it still was great to walk around and just explore.

small non tiering treck. Has lots of remains of the fort still in good condition. The woodden door on one of the gates is still existing & moves. Good place for a one day treck. Though the approach road is not driveable.
