We arrived late on a foggy drizzly May afternoon via foot. Perfect weather for meandering the paths between the headstones, mausoleums & crypts in a setting more like an arboretum. We would have loved to take a guided tour, but none were scheduled at the time. Don't let that stop you from exploring this amazing place so full of history... More

I urge locals and visitors alike to take a guided tour of this very special place - where else is there a monument of a Greek goddess situated to wave directly at Lady Liberty - with so much clout that a developer was forced to alter the architecture of a building so as not to interfere with the sight line.... Beautiful landscaping, wonderful views, lots of famous dead people and lots of pretty crypts. A little dark, perhaps, but cool. Live like a Victorian, cheek by jowl with death. More

Get a map from the guard. We usually drive around for a while and then park and take a walk. It's like being in a park except for all the buried people. More
