Many locally owned-and-operated clothing, furnishing, & knickknack stores, as well as delectable eateries abound on Brooklyn's Smith St. It's definitely worth the quick F-train ride from Manhattan. Bonus: also check out Carroll Gardens cinema one block over for the best in independent screen gems & big budget flicks for less-than-Manhattan prices.

Boerum Hill Brooklyn has a great vibe, a combination of small neighborhood with NYC cosmopolitan scene. Over ther past few years, the restaurant scene on Smith has exploded.
