I am thoroughly displeased with this establishment. I read previous reviews about this tour and decided it would be a good day trip to take with my friends visiting from out of town. Boy was I wrong!! It was immediately evident that this tour was created to milk money from the wallets of unsuspecting cruise ship tourists. The gift shop... More

This is the best gig in Fairbanks. Not only interesting with a bush pilot take off and landing, but the captain of the ship is communicating with him. soon you approach the dog kennel and this same two communication process makes it as if you were on the banks with the dogs and mushers. The company has cone an exceptional... More

Riverboat Discovery is a tourist activity very popular with cruise ship passengers on land tours. As independent travelers, we thought that this might be too "gimicky" for us - boy, were we wrong. Plan ahead and purchase an ATS coupon book, and you be able to get 2 for 1 pricing. The ride begins with a relaxing ride along the... More

My husband and took this cruise as part of a package laid on by Princess Cruises. I was sure it was going to be a cheesy tourist- trap type of sideshow. Was I ever wrong! It was pleasant, informative, well-organized. Well work the price. We had an opportunity to understand & see the history/culture of the Alaskan native peoples and... More

We enjoyed the beautiful views and relaxing riverboat cruise--was especially fun to learn more about how sled dogs are trained starting as puppies, the stop at the Native American village was educational and enjoyed by our entire family. More

This was the best value excursion that we took on our tour in Alaska. It is a family owned sternwheeler trip that includes so much. We saw a floatplane take off, we saw a dog sled demonstration, a very well done Atabascan village, and beautiful fall colors on the river. Highly recommend that you do this. More

I regretted this tour as soon as I arrived and saw the masses of people trying to get on board. Boarding was slow but I don't know how they could resolve this. Once aboard this company did a magnificent job of managing everyone. It was a really cold morning but the hot coffee and doughnuts were a hit. Having a... More

This is a bit touristy, with some bits that appear to be pre-recorded. The actual rid on the boat is about 30 minutes each way, with a few stops and disembarking at a replica Alaskan native village. The demonstrations are tightly controlled, but were interesting and informative. This was a very enjoyable trip and very scenic at points. More

Really enjoyed this tour. It was narrated by a professional radio personality who knew how to deliver the material. I especially liked the visit with the Iditarod dogs. There are many facets of the tour so you will not get bored. You get a good picture of life along the river in the winter with the airplanes. Riverboat is comfortable... More
