A must see for all lovers of history. The hands on exhibits are some of the best I have seen in the US. Good first stop for visitors.

Excellent history of the planning of the Town and a great display of the changes in architecture throughout the different periods of history. Well worth the visit! There was also a historic schoolroom upstairs as well as some native history in another room.

Good reviews on Tripadvisor compelled me to visit the Massie Heritage Center, which is owned and operated by the local school board. Perhaps for busloads of school children, this museum has its value in providing an escape for the day but I found very little education or entertainment here. I wish I had spent my time and money ($7) elsewhere.... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at Massie Heritage Center. We are disappointed to learn your visit was not as you had expected. Most visitors to Massie have found that our venue provides the best orientation to Savannah’s National Landmark District with state-of-the-art museum exhibitions. Massie’s docents are very knowledgeable and based on availability, they are... More

The interactive 3d city was very informative. I'd already had a tour, but this helped concise all the information.

This was a great museum to help gain an appreciation of the original layout of Savannah and how it still benefits its citizens, today. The Architecture exhibit, in particular, is excellent. If you are interested in architecture, but know only a little about architectural styles, this exhibit is designed in a way to make it a very effective teaching tool.... More

We had a terribly short visit to Savannah and had to pack a lot into a short time. Getting some history under our belt was essential and this small museum offers a great way to get started. Combined with a trolley tour, we got enough to want to return someday. Apparently the chamber of commerce or visitor's center does not... More

This was an interesting start to our day in Savannah. It had a small tour, interactive exhibits for the kids, and lovely gardens out back. The $7 entry fee was worth it.

I had read the reviews on this center and it was top of my list. It is now included in the Old Town Trolley Tour and admission is included in the tour price. I loved the interactive map of Savannah which gave a terrific history of the city from its beginnings. The classroom upstairs was simple but beautiful and brought... More

To get a real sense of what it means that "Savannah was laid out in squares" start here. The center offers a good overview of the various architecture styles that one sees when walking around or in the old houses.

On the edge of the historic district, this center is not promoted by the city visitor center (shame!). See the architecture exhibit before doing a walking tour of the historic district's squares and buildings. You'll have a much better appreciation for the diversity of architecture. Other family-friendly features in the A-exhibit also make this my second favorite (after Monticello's in... More
